| Recovering an erased hard drive After many problem with an OSX install, I decided to just nuke the drive and start from square one. I go to the Finder in OS9, click the drive icon... and I'm sure you know the rest: [zombie mode]"Special" -> "Erase Disk..." -> (OK)*click* [exit zombie mode] "Oh, @#$%!" I selected the wrong partition :p Instead of wiping out my OSX install, I wiped out 8 gig of data on my file dump partition, including every photo I've taken in the past year. I got hold of a friend and borrowed Norton Utilities 7 (since I don't have any sort of recovery software) and installed it. Stupid mistake, I know, trusting Norton to do anything useful. But I installed it anywy... and it'll be happy to recover files from the last FileSaver data it has... which it has based on the freshly wiped drive. I then grabbed the Data Rescue demo... which sees a few files, but nothing that I don't already have archived elsewhere, unfortunately. It sees a lot of Norton data files, though :p So, off the top of folks' heads, is there any chance of unerasing this drive, short of sending it out to have a pro look at it? I mean, all I did was tell it to forget where the files on it were located... well, that, and install Norton junk. Are there any other apps someone would suggest to fix this? -- "And as we drift along, I never fail | "It's the information age -- to be astounded by the things we'll | everything gets saved do for promises... and a song." | except for the human soul." -- Dio, "All The Fools Sailed Away" | Rev.
