Losing Samba connections after sleep mode

Hello.

I think I have seen others with this problem but I never cared to read the
articles, only to find out I have the same problem :-)

I run a 20" iMac here alongside a Linux 'fileserver' running Samba. The
shares are icons on the desktop (aliases of the network connections).

After putting the iMac to sleep it loses the samba shares, irreversible.
Trying to reconnect using the Apple-K (connect to server) combination in
the Finder also returns an error. I have to reboot the machine to get my
shares back.

Can anyone help me out here? I am quite a newbie (running this machine for
3 weeks now) and am curious to know of any solutions to this problem.

Thanks in advance and regards.

Go to the directory '/private/var/automount/network' and delete the files
you find there. You can get there from the finder using Go > Go to Folder.

Specifically, you need to delete the .ds_store files, but since they're
hidden it may be easier to just move the folder for your samba server to the
trash can and empty it.

Then reboot and reconnect to the Samba shared volumes. That's it.

I almost forgot to mention that you may need to reboot the machine sharing
the Samba volumes as well. Now then, if this was a PC news group it would
have gone without saying that you need to reboot a Windows computer...

:-)
