how to connect windowsPC to mac printer

Can anyone help or provide pointers to web pages with info on the
following:

I have a printer (Canon) which connects to the USB port on an iMac, OSX.
I would like a WinXP machine on the same LAN to be able to print to that
printer.
The Macs and WIn machines can "see" each other, in that I can connect,
open folders, swap files, etc., , but I can't figure out how to tell the
XP machine just where to look for the printer.
I can't tell whether it's just a pathname problem or a username/password
problem.

Any and all help greatfully accepted.

Carl

Wow.... I was afraid of that :-) . Some other fella even came up w/ a
way to set up samba without using CUPS. It's all so frustrating -- the
reverse is so much easier, at least for network printers. any mac can
print to any networked printer on pretty much any kind of network (so
long as the mac has drivers of course).

Maybe I can get sourceforge to make a nice Aqua installer for all the
stuff on that URL reference. Which is a very nice page by the way.
Many thanks to RF for providing the info.

One other thing -- that photo on your home page looks amazingly like a
couple houses just off the campus at Brown Univ. Am I close?

In system preferences/sharing turn printer sharing on
On your pc browse using networkneighbourhood for the printer connected
to your Mac.
Or on you P c select add new printer and then browse for the printer on
your mac.
The printer driver you will need on the PC regardless of the the printer
type is the Apple Colour LW 12/660 PS

Anything other than a postscript printer driver on the PC and it wont
print to the mac.

Hope this is of some use
