| Networking and DNS question Hi I have a weird question that I thought maybe some mac experts could help me with... I have a Powermac G4 800 Mhz, running OS 10.3.2. I am connected to the internet via ADSL (supplied by BT Openworld in the UK). I use a modem/router to connect my machine to the ADSL line. My connection is quite good and I don't have any complaints but I have started to notice that some IP addresses are unreachable from my machine. At first I thought they might just be down but now I've had confirmation that other people can access them without any difficulty. One example is f4.grp.yahoofs.com, or 66.218.66.255. I simply cannot access it. When I ping it I get 100% packet loss and when I try and do a traceroute, I just get endless lines of * * *. This particular one is strange because Yahoo is now a partner in BT Openworld. What can I do to check my network settings? I have the DNS addresses as they were recommended by BT Openworld (there are a list of about 12 IP addresses in my network preferences). Why would I be able to connect to almost all servers but not to certain others? I don't really know how to start to solve this but would love to learn. Thank you so much in advance -Vlad -- |
