Windows file mounts

Hello,

we have OS 10.2.8 on which we have mounted windows 2000 volumes, we
are opening files directly from the windows mounts into QuarkXPress.
we were wishing to check whether a file on the mounted volume is open
or not from the shell, I have tried fstat on the file and it seems not
to return anything if the file is mounted on windows, fstat on
QuarkXPress process does on return any information for the file except
under FD (file descriptor), also tried lsof..but could not get the
file informationmount ...any ideas how we can get the file status?

Thanks in advance
-ys
