Intellimouse optical mouse and driver 5.0 for System X

I have a 400 Mhz iMac (CD read only drive) and have recently upgraded to
system 10.2.8

I have an old Intellimouse Optical mouse (purchased in 2000 when I
bought the iMac). I downloaded and installed the Intellimouse 5.0 driver
for system X.

I have noticed several problems:

1. Under system 9.2, the driver was able to enable horizontal scrolling.
There does not seem to be an option for this in Intellimouse 5.0. Do I
have the right driver, or is this feature now disabled under system X?

2. In Appleworks 6 (the latest update--6.2.5, I believe), the scrolling
wheel does not work. Is this a common problem, or one inherent to my
system?

Thanks in advance,

-Bob S

I believe you need separate drivers for both Classic and OS X. I installed
both for my Logitech optical mouse and it works great in both operating
systems.

Kind Regards,

I have never installed the Intellipoint drives on my Mac, but I've
seen similar symptoms. I have noticed that the scroll wheel works in
most apps, but _NOT_ in Claris applications (including AppleWorks and
FileMaker).

You may be seeing the same thing.
