Installing Mac OS 10.2 (AGAIN)

It seems likes I Have to re-install my OS every week. I reinstalled Mac
OS 10.2.0 again and it will not open the installer package for Mac OS
the 10.2.8 uupdate. I downloaded it to the desktop and also tried
through software update.
Software update error - The installation has encoutered a problem.
None of the checked updates were successfulle installed.
to try again, choose Download Checked items in the Update menu and open
the package from the Desktop.
Downloaded file error - nothing it doesn't open. It only opens
installer. I then choose open from the file menu and open the package.
An Install Mac OS X Update Combo 10.2.8 window open and the buttons are
blank and the window is emprty. I tryed installed with both users and
aslo root user. I get the same problems. My guess is that Mac OS 10.2
is not new enough to open the 10.2.8 package. Is this posible. Did
Apple screw up. Please Help. Thanx - Calvin

Re: Installing Mac OS 10.2 (AGAIN)

I just had the same problem...twice...on a Pismo. I installed OS X from
scratch from the CD and then tried updating using Software Update, and
then tried the 10.2.8 combo updater. Neither worked.

Solution:
Install 10.2.0
Run the 10.2.6 updater (I hope you have a copy)
then run the 10.2.8 combo updater, or use Software update

BTW: I found the 12/19 Security Update hosed my machine. Did nasty
things to the ability to write to the system over a network, and also
prevents Snapz Pro from working with the Shift-Command-3 command. I
don't know what Apple did, but it was the first problem I mentioned that
drove me to reinstalling 10.2.8. I found a thread somewhere that
describes widespread problems with that security update on X Server.
Just a word of caution in case these problems are important to you.

Re: Installing Mac OS 10.2 (AGAIN)

Got 10.2.6. I just downloaded it. I found it on Apples site
Same deal blank empty window empty buttons. I assume they are the
install and cancel buttons. When I click one it just turns blue and
nothing happens. I assume I need an updated version of Installer.app
but I can't update it when the installer wont open the update. :-\
