| iSub problem I have suddenly gotten a message Software needed for the USB device "harmon/kardon USB iSub" is not available. This is on the first slot loading iMac using OS 9.2.2. I have spent several hours searching to no avail. Any suggestions? |

It may have installed an extension that interferes with the Apple USB extension that runs the iSub. What happens if you reboot with the minimal Apple-only extensions? |

When I reboot with the miminal extensions, I get basically the same message. Surprisingly, after the message, a minute or two later the iSub starts working. Do you happen to know what extension has the iSub driver? Thanks for your response. |

As far as I know, there isn't a separate iSub extension. It's run by the standard Apple USB Device Extension I think. The content of the error message would seem to indicate that the Mac sees the iSub (it shows up in Apple Profile right?), but that it can't continue. Maybe hardware: I once had a problem with too many USB devices and hubs that killed my iSub. The iSub takes a lot of power, and may not work on a hub or via the keyboard hub. Maybe try rearranging your USB devices, and giving the iSub its own port on the iMac. |
