Windows Media Player fails With Panther

I have not been able to get Windows Media Player to work with Panther
for conference calls. Apparently this is a know problem having to do
with codecs not being supported by the Mac OS X.
How are people dealing with this?

I have the same problem. Very frustrating; the MS site says nothing
about it.

I've been using VLC. (http://www.videolan.org) Their player is quite
good, and even plays some things that WMP won't (back on 10.3).

The video quality isn't as good as WMPs on most things, but it gets
better with every release. It also runs on quite a few platforms,
including Mac and Linux.
