Questions about a G3 All In One

I am new to Macs here, having just been won over from 10+ years on the
PC. I am running OS X 10.2.8. on a G3 All In One.

1. I have the A/V personality card installed, but when I hook it up to
the TV, I get no display or sound on the TV. Is there a driver or some
special software I have to install?

2. If I install a new PCI video card in the system, would I need to
add a second monitor or would it display on my built in monitor?

3. Is there anyway to get more then thousands of colors at 1024x768?

4. Does anyone know if Panther will eventually support the early Power
macs without built in USB?

Thanks ahead of time,
Jason

Congrats and welcome. I don't mean to sound harsh or critical, but
really you're having a less-than-optimal Mac experience running OS X on
such an old machine. I hope a new Mac of some kind is under your tree
this holiday season! :)

Nope. OS X doesn't support that card, I'm sorry to say.

Macs have "autosensing" on this, so when you plug the monitor to the new
card, that then becomes the default video.

Not without changing the video card, which is possible.

No.

Again, I hope a newer, more OS X capable Mac is in your future -- if you
like Macs now, just wait till you get one that is actually designed to
run it! :)

You have run out of video ram. For some reason, the spec doesn't list
how much you have.

This is Apples way of saying that they have dropped MacOS development
for this machine.

You might try xpostfacto. Maybe you can get the author to support
your machine. See:

Re: Questions about a G3 All In One

OS X does not support the older video cards. There's another post about this
topic around here somewhere... :)

Kind Regards,
