| Quicktime, What the ??? I recently installed the new version of quicktime (in order to view a video attachment emailed to me by a friend). Next thing I know, I also have installed iTunes and iPod. I did not request this software to be installed and cerinally did not choose these options. Not only this I find that iTunes, runs a process in the background. Great yet another software application to boycot. I could not find an email address for complaints in the Quicktime website, so I inly hope that the guys from Apple read this newspgroup occasionally. I am really peeved, I mean who want yet another media player. There are already thousands available, hundreds that just play mp3's and do nothing else. hundreds that install only the mp3 player and do not install spyware, or other bloat appications. Hundreds that are more effecient, less complicated and quicker to down load than iTunes. This is not a message for discussion, it is a statement about being completly p*ssed off about just another media player who got too big for it's own boots. Why... Why... Why Shame... Shame... Shame... Apple |

| Re: Quicktime, What the ??? What in iTunes runs in the background? The apps downloaded were probably loaded when you did a "Software Update" and apple does this for your convenience and to help your computer avoid conflicts that apple knows to exist. Not sure why this is a disservice to you...? A hotmail user. It figures. Go ahead and boycott, no one gives a ****. A company spends millions of dollars to develop the best media software bar none and gives away a substantial amount of functionality to anyone who cares to download it. Some loser still finds some weak-ass reason to rise up and righteously denounce it. I'm at least slightly mystified whether you are a slow witted Mac user who is baffled at how to use Software Update or some trolling Windows user. If this atrocity occurred on a Mac, how could it not have had iTunes already installed? And what could you mean by installing iPod? That's a hardware device. It integrates well with iTunes but it can't be installed. If you are a Windows user how could you possibly get iTunes installed when installing QuickTime. I have an XP box that has QuickTime installed. I just upgraded to QuickTime 6.5 and that does not install iTunes. This blithering just does not make any sense unless someone is playing an elaborate joke on you. In any case QuickTime is a great product on both the Mac and Windows. I don't see how anyone has the audacity to complain about something that works so well and is free! Just uninstall it and move along. |
