| CD Eject Menu bar icon A neat trick I learned from the Dec 2002 Mac Addict: in the Jaguar (and now Panther) System/Library/Core Services/Menu Extras folder, there's an Eject.menu item; double-click it and a CD/DVD drive eject icon appears on the menu bar. It only works with internal drives, but I found on my older iBook, that it worked much quicker and more reliably than the keyboard button. I installed it on my new slot-loading G4 iBook, then realized that it really doesn't have anywhere near the usefulness with the slot-loading drive. Any ideas where it (along with the other menu bar add-ins) are loaded? Double-clicking the Eject.menu item again doesn't unload it. Thanks! -- AZ |

Just hold down the command key and drag it off the menubar. It will go "poof." -- Cheers, _Chas_ http://www.apple.com/switch non-spammers can write to chasm at mac (dot com) |
