Window Opening

Is there some way to control where new windows open? I'm thinking
specifically about the Compose and Read windows of Entourage, but I see this
effect in other programs, too. New windows open in the upper left corner of
the screen, which is somewhat inconvenient on this Cinema monitor.

I've got OS 10.2.8 running on a G5.

AFAIK, on any one boot session, the machine opens/sizes windows where they
were when you last closed them. A restart returns things to the default
settings. Any re-write of the default window size/placement would include
system/program hacks that are outside my experience.

I haven't been able to find anything. While this theory seems to hold for
the main program window, it doesn't hold for the Entourage Read & Compose
windows, the system's Get Info window, etc. I drag those to the center of
the screen to use them, but the the next time they're opened it's in the
upper left corner.

Thanks.
