| airport comp->comp network troubles I have a white iBook with the original airport card. My friend just got a PowerBook with airport extreme. We have been unable to share files over a computer to computer network. From either computer I can 'create network' from the airport menu successfully (icon changes to grey wedge with computer inside and the other computer shows the name in its airport menu). But after selecting the name we cannot find any sign of the other computer. I've looked in 'networks' at root and all its folders, in users, in the public folder. I've been unable to find any information on what will happen when the comp to comp network is successful. Where will I find access to the other computer? But I'm guessing the network isn't being created. I purposely sent the wrong password when connecting and got no message and the network name was checked in the airport menu, so the menu status can be misleading. Is there an incompatibility between our airports. Software update shows an upgrade for my airport but is recommended for airport extremes so I haven't upgraded yet. Appletalk is on for both machines and I've turned on most everything in the 'Sharing' panel of system prefs. Still, no folder or hard drive icon is found to access the other mac. suggestions are most completely welcomed by this network neubaphile. Thank you -Laz |

Do you have an Airport base station? Do you any experience at setting up an ethernet network? Have you read everything in Mac Help regarding Networks? Knowing your exact situation regarding experience level an LAN type/setup is very helpful. Steve C |
