cmd shift 4

How can I change the format the cmd-shift-4 saves in? It used to be jpeg but
now for some reason it's pdf and I have to change them.

Thanks

OS10.2.6

Instead, use the Grab utility... it saves as TIFF.

I can run it directly but the options are greyed out in the services menu. Any
idea why?

According to documentation, pdf is the default format and there doesn't
appear to be an option to change it. I don't know how it used to be jpeg
unless that was what the OS saved as in previous versions.

I have never figured out the services menu thing. The only way I have been
able to use Grab is to launch and use directly.

You're right. It was the icon that fooled me. I just use Kunvert to change it
to a jpeg in a jiffy.

Documentation says that if the options are greyed out, this feature
(Services) is not supported in that app. Which begs the question, why does it
show up in the menu in the first place?

I have never seen the Grab options selectable in any application including the
Finder
