| Internet Connect Hello - I'm experiencing an annoyance, and I'm real new at this. Every time I wake the machine (a G5 running OS 10.2.8) a window pops up. It says it's from Internet Connect, and includes the icon of that application. The message is that it's unable to open the communication device. My cable connection works fine. My dial-up connection works fine - after I dial into it. I have a Bluetooth module installed, but I see this whether that module is turned on or off. Internet Connect isn't open and I can't find any running processes that I immediately associate with it. Does anyone 1) know why this is happening and 2) how to make it stop? -- Srb |

The only contribution I have is that after sleep, if I don't wait several seconds before trying to get mail or contacting a URL I get a 'beep' signifying it's not ready. Do you have someting set to connect immediately after waking from sleep? I'm on 10.2.6 though.with a G4 -- Harvey Products makers of Dinghy Dogs(TM) The Boater's Best Friend http://www.dinghydogs.com Remove thefrown to email me |

I'll have to see what happens if I shut them down before putting the machine to sleep. -- Srb |

I just have to remember to give it a few seconds before getting my email if it's been asleep. -- Harvey Products makers of Dinghy Dogs(TM) The Boater's Best Friend http://www.dinghydogs.com Remove thefrown to email me |

I'm using Entourage. From the Entourage menu, Tools, Schedules, I picked "Fetch Mail" and edited it. There was an option, which was unchecked, to only fetch when connected. Since I checked it, the Internet Connect warning hasn't reappeared. I have no clue why there would be an option to only fetch mail while you're connected, of course. But it seems to have worked. Thanks. -- Srb |
