Panther installing question

Hello,

I just bought Panther (jay!) and want to re-organise the partintions on
my iMac 17". But when selecting a disk format we can choose (amongst
other things) 'Mac OS Extended' and 'Mac OS Extended Journaled'.

I understand that the journaled format has something to do with
preventing dataloss in case of a crash. But I can't seem to find if
there's a downside.

I'm a long time Mac user (but don't know that much about Unix). Should I
choose the journaled or the regular Mac OS Extended disk format?

Can anyone help?
kind regards,

Simone

The only downside that I'm aware of is that there is supposedly a
slight performance hit. However I haven't noticed any difference on my
500MHz TiBook.

There's a TINY performance hit, but since Panther is significantly
faster than Jag anyway, you won't see it -- so live it up!
