| New 1Ghz 12" PowerBook and Multiple Displays I like the portability of the 12" PowerBook but the display is too small to stare at for too long. I would like to run it with an external monitor that sits behind and above the laptop, so when I move my mouse up past the 12" PowerBook screen it will go to the monitor behind and above it. Does anyone know if this is possible, or can I only anchor the external monitor to the left or right of the 12" PowerBook? No, I haven't bought the PowerBook yet. Thanks in advanced for your comments. - Matt |

It is possible. You can arrange the 2 displays anyway you like. One left, one right, or one up and one down, or vice versa. Greetings, Eveline., |

The larger secondary monitor sat on a shelf above the monitor bearing the menu bar. I don't recommend it. Overshooting the menu bar with the mouse is an unpleasant and unwelcome possibility. Having a fixed menu bar at the top edge of the desktop is one of the usability features that puts the Mac well ahead of Windows, in my opinion. |

That's why you can also put the menu bar on the secondary screen. |

| Re: New 1Ghz 12" PowerBook and Multiple Displays Thanks for the advice, both of you. Are you saying I can make the external monitor the primary monitor and the laptop screen the secondary, ie menu bar and dock on external monitor and whatever I drag there on the laptop screen? Thanks Again! Exactly. You should be able to designate which is the 'primary' screen, and whichever is set to primary should have the pull-down menu bar. |
