| Bondi Blue rev B restart stumper My Imac (Bondi Blue rev B, OS 9.2) has a curious problem: when asked to restart the video stays off. I get the chime and the drives spin up but the screen stays black. The light on the reset button stays green, instead of turning orange and then green like it does on a usual startup. the real pisser is that the 'programmer button' does the same thing. Special->Shut Down usually works ok, though occasionally I'll restart with the power button and get no video.. This can only be cured by interrupting power for a few seconds at the power strip, and then it will come up fine. Does this ring any bells? John |

While not all of the above sounds exactly like a battery issue, it may solve the problem and is cheap (under $20.00 from Radio Shack; get the 3.6v alkaline battery that's about 1/2 "AA" size). Be sure to press the CUDA button to clear the PRAM; sometimes the battery on these drained abnormally fast if the CUDA was not pressed. Brian |

If you system is more than 4 years old and you have never replaced the battery than this is a good thing to do, video problems date and time issues are both good idicators of a dead and dying battery. You can always Reset the CUDA but pull the battery out before you do this. |
