DGL support for OS-X?

I'm setting up an iMac in an environment that contains an SGI
computer. I would like to be able to remotely run apps on the SGI
computer and view the results on the Mac.

I've installed the X11 Beta and can now rsh to the SGI machine and run
graphical X apps (and command line programs, of course). However, I
am having trouble with some of the more interesting apps. These are
GL (OGL) based and require DGL (distributed GL). When I try to run
the app, I see this error:

dgl error (protocol): remote machine not DGL capable - fooMac:0
dgl error (default init): default dglopen(macman:0,4) returned -13

Note: fooMac is the name of the iMac.

Has anyone overcome this? Is there a dgl runtime environment for
os-x?
Should this work? Perhaps I have something mis-configured.

Thanks,
John

Are you sure that the applications you are running on the SGI are OpenGL
and not Iris GL applications?

OpenGL applications should run fine on the SGI with the DISPLAY set to
the Mac, but Iris GL applications will fail with an error. On my
systems, though, I see an error like "IrisGL: ERROR #106 Couldn't
connect to display ":10.0": ERR_NOWINDOWSERVER" when I try to run an
Irix GL application on my Octane and with the DISPLAY environment
variable set to my Mac running X11.

I know that I can run some OpenGL apps on my SGI and set the display to
my Mac. I just tried it with the "ideas" abd "tex_cube" demos.

I'm connecting my SGI via ssh (with X11 tunneled inside it using "ssh
-X"), if that makes a difference.

Good luck.
