CD burner in BWG3

Hello.
I have bought a second hand Mac with this specifikation:

Modell-ID: 406
Modellname: PowerMac G3 Series
DVD- yes
Processorinfo: PowerPC G3
Clockfrequency: 400 MHz
Version of nanokernel: 2.27
Nanokernel pool extends: 11
Nanokernel schedule CPU:1

ROM-revision: $77D.45F6
Boot-ROM-version: 1.1f4
Mac OS ROM-file version: 8.7

My question is....Can I exchange the CD/DVD player to
a CD burner/DVD player?
Any suggestion?

/Hans.

Re: CD burner in BWG3

Yes. It takes about fifteen minutes, tops, to swap out the CD player for a
CD-burner/DVD player. You'll need a couple of screwdrivers and an appropriately
sized hex wrench for the outer shell of the case.

Re: CD burner in BWG3

You do not need to take off the outer shell---

Re: CD burner in BWG3

I put the TDK VeloCD drive in my B&W. It works great, and the transparent
blue tray matches the B&W case. The only catch it that the machine won't
boot from that drive. That's pretty common for 3rd party IDE CD drives in
newer Macs. The XLR8 database that an earlier poster referenced has a few
that will boot.
