| Re: 10.2.6 Anyone tried 10.2.6 on an "old" beige G3 tower. I tried 10.2 Jaguar and it totally killed my machine. I ended up reinstalling 10.0 to 10.1 to 10.1.5. I don't want to go through this again but I would like to upgrade to the latest version of OS X. Thanks in advance. Bob |

I am afraid to go through the mess of starting with 10.2 and upgrading. The Apple store only shows 10.2 Jaguar plus a 10.2.5 upgrade. Thanks again. Bob |

The 10.2.5 upgrade is a unified installer for all the intermediate upgrades. The 10.2.6 upgrade is painless once you're connected to the Internet. -- Woofbert, Chief Rocket Surgeon, Infernosoft Woofbert's Law on Learning Linux: When attempting to learn Linux, study it thoroughly before you begin. |

| Re: 10.2.6 The problem I had with the release 10.2 Jaguar about one year ago is that the installation wiped out my 10.1.5 boot / system drive and then hung during the installation. I even tried a very basic 10.2 and that also hung will loading the second CD. I am trying to find a path that will install without killing 10.1.5 again in case I have to go back again. It took two weeks to recover everything last year when I tried 10.2. I am hoping that there are some 10.2.1+ installation CDs that will install for me. I am playing with ccclone 1.3.1 to recreate my boot disk on partition 2 of a SCSI disk. My current boot drive is a 6 GB SCSI partition on a 40 GB SCSI drive. Partition 2 is the same Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. It looks like 10.3 is on DVD. I don't know if there is a DVD drive that is boot able on the old beige G3/266 tower that I have. Thanks in advance to everyone for your help. Bob |

Except for developer releases, 10.3 hasn't been released. If you had such bad luck with 10.2, don't install any 10.3 yet! > I don't know if there is a DVD drive that is boot able on the old beige > G3/266 tower that I have. Check www.xlr8yourmac.com. They have a searchable database of Macintosh types and drives that have been installed, alongwith stories about how well they worked. I suspect that 10.3 won't work with anything older than a BW G3. > Thanks in advance to everyone for your help. > > Bob > > -- Woofbert, Chief Rocket Surgeon, Infernosoft Woofbert's Law on Learning Linux: When attempting to learn Linux, study it thoroughly before you begin. |

Then Apple said I needed to be at 6 GB. I finally used 5.9 GB to reinstall 10.1.5. This was the first partition on the drive. |
