Outbound laptop

Someone gave me one of these at work today. Aussie (?) clone of 1xx series,
but different.

Uses 30 pin SIMMs, not memory modules.
Mouse in a sliding, rotating bar with buttons on each end.
No power button per se; just press any key to boot it.

At first, all I got was garbage on the screen, but reseating the
daughter/memory board fixed that. Booted to OS 7.0; am upgrading to 7.5.3
now. Has 8mb RAM (4 each 2mb 30 pin SIMMs).

Anyone got some 16mb 30 pin SIMMs? I'd like to load it up! I may have to
take the 1gb SCSI drive out of my 180!

YEE HAW!

(Can you tell I'm psyched?)

Brian

If I recall correctly, the Outbound was the FIRST Mac laptop. And it
wasn't a clone, it was built around recovered SE motherboards (to avoid
legal issues I suppose.)

I think it was what was known as a "luggable".

Who knows? You might be able to get some $ for it on eBay as a
collector's item. :-)

I don't think so; the processor is on a separate daughter card, along with
the memory.

You may be thinking of this model:

Mine is about the size of a 1XX series (though maybe a little thicker).
Here it is:

Now, my FIRST computer WAS a "luggable":
