If you tried to hit the site over the last few hours you may have been greeted with either a site not found or a MySQL error. The post.MYI file was corrupt and the repair was failing. Steve from vBulletin was fantastic with his support and ideas on how to fix the database table. The key was using myisamchk at the command line with the proper switches so that the large database would repair - otherwise there was not enough space in the tmp location for the repair.

I have only checked the site quickly and everything looks to be in order. Hopefully no one's posts have been deleted. More time will be spent to see what went wrong.

PS. The good news from this experience is that backups from the host had failed. Luckily there was a local backup and an FTP backup repository is being created. No more relying on hosts.

Yeah Yeah. Quit hassling me. I thought things were fine until I manually ran a repair/optimize on the post table through vBulletin. The server hung and there was an hour of panic :-)
