When you try to install an update from Windows Update on a computer that is running
Windows Vista, you may receive the following message:
configuring updates stage 3 of 3. 0% complete
After you receive this message, the computer reverts to the screen that displays the same
message. Additionally, the update is not installed successfully, and the computer
restarts.

the Vista Windows Recovery Environment

| Yesterday I stut down my computer just fine. Today when I started it up, it
| goes through the steps just fine - almost.
|
| 1. It goes through the boot order screen
| 2. the microsoft screen with the sliding bar
| 3. the microsoft vista circle
|
| These screens all go fine.
|
| Then the screen for
|
| "Configuring updates: Phase 3 of 3. 0% complete
| Do not shut off your computer"
|
| comes up and stays up for about one minute and the % does not change, Very
| quickly (Less than 1 second) the login screen is shown. Then the Vista goes
| to "Shutting Down" screen.
|
| I have not turned the machine off and this has been cycling for roughly 45
| minutes.
|
| Any help would be appreciated.
