Re: Realtek AC97 sound drivers

Please say what "hw wizard" are you using. I'm not sure what version of the
audio system I have. Diagnostics don't give it. Add/Remove gives a version
numberbut that may be only original driver version. TIA,

|I recently had to reinstall XP due to too many software conflicts.
| All the hardware was working properly though.
| Now I have a clean install of XP SP2 with the latest patches but I
| can't get the sound drivers to work.
| I installed a driver for my motherboard 865M-G8 and the new hw wizard
| now recognizes my onboard
| sound card as Realtek AC97 and installs drivers for it automatically.
| However it appears with a 'question mark' in device manager and the
| status window
| under properties says 'failed to start'.
| I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling but to no avail.
| I am thinking it's a driver issue as I had sound working prior to
| reinstalling windows,
| but not sure what to try next.
|
| Any help would be appreciated
