The date and time was 2/7/2008 6:12 AM, and on a whim, SANTANDER pounded
out on the keyboard:

You don't have DOS for an OS, that's for sure. You need to contact the
manufacturer to see if there are drivers for the specific hardware on
the laptop BEFORE doing anything else. Also check to see if using a
different OS will void your warranty. If so, you could create an image
of your current drive on an external drive and keep it safe in case you
need warranty work done.

The laptop should function properly. If not, why waste your time and
money? Take the time and let the manufacturer get it right. You paid
for it to work correctly.
