What were their suggestions?
Sometimes the order of installation is important. For example,
the bluetooth stack would be installed prior to an update of SP2. Since you didn't say the OS - I am just grabbing at straws here. However, a couple threads suggest look in the device manager under unknown devices. Let us know some more details and we'll see if someone can help.
