You don't - You just plug it in to use it, and moments after you are
finished, just pull it out. Most people have no practical use for the Safely
Remove feature. It is primarily for use with delayed write on disks, to make
sure it's all clear before unplugging. But the default for all disks is not
to use it, so there is no need for it.

Never use it with flash drives or other such gadgets. Good luck.
