Well, this should be the definitive answer to all your questions,
however nobody can guarantee that the manufacturers of hardware or
software have implemented this properly, the difference between theory
and practice.
There are probably many variations with cable so make sure you check
both ends, unless you can find one that specifies both the TV and PC on
the box.
