Bluetooth isn't the only solution, though it may be the best. I have a
Logitech bought a couple years or so back that uses a USB port to
connect its RF part that communicates with the mouse. Like Bluetooth,
it requires batteries in the mouse or elsewhere. Unlike Bluetooth, it
occupies a USB port. I have no idea if such are still widely available,
though, or if it's pretty much a given now that Bluetooth is the thing
to do.
