Yeah, if the drive is only a couple of months old it should work with Vista.

Have you tried UNINSTALLING the drive in Device Manager and rebooting to let
Windows re-detect it?

Is this a SATA or a PATA drive? Have you tried a different cable, a different
cable connector or a different motherboard port? And, of course, checked the
jumpers.
