I had an old CD writer that would not work with Vista (it worked well with XP)
and this registry fix also did not work.

I downloaded and installed the latest firmware update from the drive
manufacturer and the drive now works great with Vista.

Have you gone to the drive manufacturer's site to see if they have a firmware
update?

If you do find an update, be sure to follow the installation instructions to the
letter.
