Re: speaking of wishes

Tablets are a superset of Windows XP and are native in Vista - that is to say, anything that works on a laptop works on a tablet. They are indeed laptop replacements and for many people desktop replacements. I don't wanna get too mushy on tablets since I just posted a pro-tablet rant and I don't want to come off like a Tablet MVP that's invading the OneNote turf trying to spread propoganda. :)

But there's alot of misconceptions about tablets like them being underpowered, overpriced, a separate OS, etc. Some of this was true in the early days, but the OS has always been compatible with non-tablet counterparts. In fact, all versions of Vista (except Home Basic) have the Tablet PC components "built in" thus making the only difference between a tablet and non-tablet the presence of a touch screen or electromagnetic digitizer.

By the way, I use Citrix on my Vista tablet and UMPC with no issues other than the fact that the handwriting input panel will not send text into citrix'ed applications correctly (the on-screen keyboard does). This is an issue with the Citrix and Microsoft Remote Desktop client, but it doesn't matter since most tablets are convertible laptops anyway - for using Citrix you'd just use the keyboard like you would on a laptop.

A large amount of people in this workforce are very mobile, and carry laptops running Windows XP Pro (even the new laptops just ordered will not yet go Vista because of difficulties with the Citrix environment, I'm told). The ones that do not, are in office environments and use terminals to connect to a Citrix desktop. I've never had any exposure to tablets.

My impression is that tablets could not take the place of laptops-would that be correct?

But them for a Tablet PC :)

Most tablets come with OneNote 2007 and on a tablet you really can appreciate what OneNote has to offer.

I wish that OneNote was offered/bundled in with the business/enterprise packages. I want it at the office!

Our corp is rolling out the Office 2007 suite to all users (@600 plus people) by the end of this month. OneNote will not be available because it would be a separate license.

And yes, I AM pushing it whenever I get the chance.
