Hi,

You would think MS would change that GUI Help||About version number to
reflect the patched(updated) core files in IE7, but alas that is not the
case. The Version Number you see in the Help||About section(7.0.5730.11) is
in fact the Latest Version Number for IE7 on a Windows XP SP2 machine, refer
to:

Version Displayed in the GUI Help\About section:
Major Version.Minor Version.Build Number.Sub-build Number
Major Version=7.
Minor Verison=0.
Build Number=5730.
Sub-Build Number=11

This can be varified at the following Registry Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
DWORD Value = Build
DATA Value = 75730
DWORD Value = Version
DATA Value=7.0.5730.11

However there have been changes to the core files along the way, and the
Latest Version of iexplore.exe(IE7 Executable) on a fully patch Windows XP
SP2 machine.
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Should be Version 7.0.6000.16512

Mshtml.dll (the heart of Internet Explorer) has also been modified several
times since IE7 for Windows XP SP2 was released.
Initial Version = 7.0.5730.11
Latest Version = 7.0.6000.16525 (Applied by KB937143 Cumulative Update for
IE7)
