Update -- yesterday I got an email from MS (Download Service newsletter)
which informed that there was a significant security update to various software
(Excel, IE, Vista etc), and sure enough last night I installed the updates
that were "ready to install".

Since that time, the PPC has been synching perfectly again! Well, with the
exception of Cash Organizer and my MS Money 2007 file that is located on
another PC in my home intranet. But that it a permissions issue outside of
WMDC and my PPC.

So while it was not apparent from the 13 listed updates that this was in
any way going to fix any WMDC problem, something did the trick and I am happy.
