Hi Armin,

The backup and recovery functionality in Vista is at best poor. Unlike
the
old system, if you do a complete PC backup you cannot restore individual
files.... whats more , if you do a file backup, (where you can restore
individual files) it will not backup program files and other key data. I
have
fallen victim to this earlier this year. I do have a suggestion though,
which
helped me out of my problem. Download "winimage"
[url]http://www.winimage.com/winimage.htm[/url] which will alow you to mount the
vmdk
file that Vista backup created, you can then restore files from this
image.
The download is a free 30 day trial. After that i would suggest a 3rd
part
backup program. I have tried a few, nova backup seems quite good,
although it
doesn't support other backup formats. Hope this is useful.
