I don't know if this clue offers any confirmation of your suspicion, DP, but
last night I thought "why not try a Restore to a pre-5/31 date? Restore
allowed me to set such a date. I chose "5/28/2007". The machine said wait
while Restore restores your settings--do not shut off the computer...etc.
Restore complete! Yes, but restored to 6/01/2007. So--"they" are onto any
such attempts to go back, pretty surely.
