Hapless, nonproficient, long-time windows user.
Nothing ever seems to work out of the box as promised.
Vista continues the tradition of "expect another disappointment"

I've read it.

The RC1 reminder screen said to back up the computer, not "data" as well as
I can recall.
I've lost all my bookmarks--there is/was an official blog page wherein the
MS guy said to users "do yourself a favor and back up now to save hassles
later on". And a table repeating the linked table, stating that any version
of Vista could be migrated-into if you had done a backup.
EVEN IF I'm all wrong about this--the RC1 was happy to make my totalbackup
set,
but as soon as that was done, just to be sure, I tried to back up individual
files of this and that, mostly photos--burn to disk. No go. Nothing more
could be saved on 5/29.
Dates mean something to me. The RC program was saying at intervals, "you
have xx days before Windows will stop working." Heck, it already had ceased
full-functionality.
That's beside the point. Your closing point:

If you were an expert user here to advise clueless casual users, such as I
openly state myself to be, you would know that the two hour sessions after
the timeout, allow NO SAVING of any work whatsoever.
So, you're just pounding on me unfairly and making an unfounded castigation
and finishing with an assertion that is, in effect, bogus. You are in error,
more in "whine" than myself, inasmuch as I am not the one giving advice.
"Two hour sessions, start saving."
No. It does not work that way. We only wish it were so. |
