Hello,
I have a new computer running Vista Home Premium/IE7 that is not able to
load certain web sites. I posted about this earlier, and someone suggested
that it might be a virus, but the Norton system scan I ran detected nothing,
and the behavior ix unchanged. I am reposting, per this advice.
I can connect normally to many sites--Google, Yahoo!, Wikipedia,
Amazon--but I cannot connect to many others. The hint at the bottom of the
web page changes to "Web site found, waiting for response...", and there it
stays forever. The sites include
www.microsoft.com (and sub-pages) and
www.msn.com, so I am tempted to say the sites affected are Microsoft sites,
but I can't imagine why that would be the case. Because only certain sites
are affected, I am guessing that there is some default setup or configuration
for IE7 or Vista that is causing this. Both Vista and IE7 are new to me with
this system.
I am using the same ISP connection to send this email, connected to a
different computer running XP Pro SP4 and IE6. As far as I am aware, the
connection is configured identically on both systems. Because of this, I
don't believe it is an ISP issue. The behavior persists through warm and
cold reboots.
Any advice appreciated,
Phil Coveney
