Let's see what happens. There are IT departments that are accepting
new computers as they come, equipped with Vista while others are rolling
them back out with Windows XP-SP2 + updates. And a few other IT managers
are offering users the options of Windows XP or a version of Linux for
their new computers. A lot will depend on how quickly the peripherals
catch up to Vista as well as the Vista driver updates and new software
designed to work with Vista for those who elect to upgrade.

Microsoft might have released Vista prematurely since, IMO, the market
is not ready for it. The situation is similar to the release of Windows
NT 4.0 and there was a dearth of 32-bit drivers for almost everything in
mid-1996. And the games developers were still writing programs for 16-bit
systems.
