I have not been lazy; I have been working on this for days.
I fixed the problem by googling the statement "System32 folder is missing".
There were many hits with the answer, which consisted of typing:
attrib -a -h -r -s c:\windows\system32 into command/prompt.
Apparantly, many others have this same problem.
