have you tried making sure the resolution is correct or the size of the
monitor you have? i have a gateway with the new window's vista on it, and it
was always dark every time i turned on my laptop. then i figured out that my
resolution was too high for my 14.1. inch monitor. my resolution was for as
if i had a 17 inch monitor. after adjusting to the correct resolution, every
time now i turn on my laptop, the screen is always bright, and i no longer
have to manually adjust it to be bright
