Re: Solution to update problem

Robin, I finally had time to try installing the Windowsupdate agent via Safe
Mode. I almost thought it was going to work, until I received the following
error:

Install failed. Error 0x8007043C

According ot another post in this forum, it means:

"ERROR_NOT_SAFEBOOT_SERVICE. Translation: You need a service which is not
available in safe mode."

Also, I tried disabling all of the non-Microsoft addons, but still got the
memory error when closing IE7. What happens if I disable all of the addons
listed in IE7 ? I do not want to kill it and have to reinstall it if I
disable something that is required, though I am starting to wonder if that
may end up being what needs to be done anyway.

Thanks again.
