Reactions to criticisms are sometimes more important than the criticism itself. In the case of Microsoft, they have shown repeatedly that they react in a positive manner to criticisms. They usually evaluate the criticism and appear to assign it a place in their priorities. This places them a cut above their competition.
For example, it still amazes me that I have yet to meet an impolite Microsoft employee. I wish that could be said for other giant corporations.
