So if I get it right you follow Linux file system sceme and store your
data under /users but in XP you create your folders under root? If the
reason is "c:\Documents and oh-so-long-nasty-folder-name Settings" I
understand that but in Vista it's c:\Users. Problem solved?

For me storing your data under and backup of %userprofile% makes even
more sence since there are many things besides documents. App data,
desktop and app customizations, favorities, Outlook/Express data,address
book, HKCU etc.
