The bottom line is that ms originally did not abide by terms it agreed
to when using sun java under license. Sun sued and the courts agreed
with sun, forcing ms to abandon its version (after a specific time
frame). Ms then attempted to not bundle sun java in xp at all, and was
sued again by sun. Sun prevailed and ms was ordered to include sun java
in xp. What you are seeing now is due to the judgements and settlements
