I am currently experiencing a similar problem. I bought my tc1100 just under 3weeks ago from
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace. Reading through this thread has left me with the following concerns.
(1) Does this mean that every owner of tc1100 should look forward to this problem.
(2) Does HP charge for correcting this hardware design flaw.
(3) How do I contact HP, I spent about 2 hours yesterday trying to get something concrete.
