It seems the lesson of this discussion, if your aim is to save money, buy
one of the new, cheap computers, then install XP on it. The cheap computer
will have plenty of resources to run XP adequately, and the OS downgrade
from Vista to XP will cost much less than adding the memory and other
features needed to make a cheap computer run Vista adequately.
