Since updating to XP SP2 and the Tablet PC Edition 2005, have you downloaded
and installed the latest Wacom drivers? Check here:
http://www.wacom.com/tabletpc/driver.cfm for the version 4.95-6 Penabled
Tablet PC drivers. As for the Tablet Input Panel closing on you, the
behavior when you're using the TIP in Undock mode is for the little floating
TIP icon to appear on-screen when the cursor is in a text input area AND the
pen is within about 1/2 inch of the screen. If the sensor portion of the
pen is lifted out of the digitizer range, if may be thinking the pen input
is finished.
